“Across all cultures, people celebrate life, with the news of pregnancy, baby showers and birthdays. Across all cultures, we also mourn death, with sadness at the news of someone being ill, with gathering at hospitals, with gathering in support, and after death, at funerals and in bereavement and remembrance traditions or rituals thereafter. Celebrating life and mourning death are part of the cycle of humanity. It is only the last few decades of humanity’s life cycle that we have denied a specific group of people the right or opportunity to mourn. And that group of people is those who have had abortions and those have been touched by abortion. This program is an attempt to address the basic human need to mourn the death. In this program it is the death that occurred with abortion. Because abortion is widespread and easily accessible, the lack of opportunity to mourn has created a silent epidemic of individuals who may not understand why they feel, think or act the way they do. A group of individuals who do not have a chance to gather and support one another as they go through the process of grieving. The program is an attempt to bring to surface the need to mourn and to honor those individuals who have been silent and in pain.”

STORIES OF RECOVERY
This program helped dig out of the hole and isolation I had thought I deserved after my loss. It helped me be okay again and even more. I reconciled with myself and the people who I had felt hurt by and who I had hurt too. The program works as hard as the participant does and it certainly was hard work to process the grief associated with the loss. But at the end there is life again and more joyful life and an enthusiasm about the future like never before.
Thank you for this program!"

“Laura walked us through our process. She was never judgmental. She helped us in ways we didn’t even expect. Talking out loud about our baby Estelle has helped us incredibly!”

"Coeurage helped me deal with myself first of all, and then with our loss so much. I couldn't have done it without it”
-Miscarriage, Stillbirth, and Infant Loss Workshop Participant
“Laura was incredibly sensitive to our needs. She was like a co-traveler on our journey of healing and recovery. She was honest, non-judgmental, genuine, and gentle, and yet knew how important it was for us to be expressive and true to ourselves, no matter what came up. She was a brave companion for us on what seemed an impossible journey initially."
-Post-Abortion Grief Care Workshop Participant
“I felt defeated; overwhelmed by my pain and my feelings. Coeurage showed me how to understand myself grieving, but above all, I realized that I am strong and resilient.”
-Post-Abortion Grief Care Workshop Participant
“Every grieving person who has gone through a
reproductive loss deserves to recover. Their
improvement permeates through every aspect
and every relationship in their life, and at large
in society”
